12 February 2021 – Information
The Federal Office for Civil Protection (FOCP) already confirmed in March 2020 that Swiss Medtech and its members are classified as «critical infrastructure and vital services». The information letter from the (FOCP)(in German) addresses, in the sense of contingency planning, how the continued operation of critical infrastructure can be made possible in the event of any restrictions on mobility.
Swiss Medtech has repeatedly asked the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) to explicitly include the medical technology sector or selected professional groups in the prioritised group of people covered by the COVID 19 vaccination strategy (in German). The FOPH is considering our request, but has so far remained non-binding in terms of time. They could not say when the next evaluation of the target groups would take place. We took the success of BVMed (in German), which was communicated last week, as a renewed reason to press the FOPH for clarification. The FOPH assured us that our request had been received and that it would be examined during the next evaluation of the target groups, but the answer was not binding in terms of time.
