In September 2015, United Nations (UN) member states unanimously adopted a resolution titled «Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development». Switzerland is committed to implementing the agenda at both national and international levels.
The key components of the 2030 Agenda are 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They are to be achieved internationally and by all UN member states by 2030. The SDGs address many diverse economic, social, and environmental issues.
Many Swiss Medtech members are aligning their sustainability commitment with the SDGs of the UN 2030 Agenda. Companies focus on different goals depending on their product range and which countries they are active in. Goals 8, 12 and 13 are, however, relevant for all medtech companies.
The medtech sector is contributing significantly to the achievement of Goal 3, providing around 500,000 medical products for first-class medical care.
