Now is the time for Bilaterals III
Over two thirds of voters are in favour of a negotiating mandate to further develop the bilateral path with the EU.
At its meeting on 15 December 2023, the Federal Council adopted a draft mandate for negotiations with the European Union (EU). Regulated relations and legal certainty in relations with the EU are essential for the medical technology industry. Swiss Medtech therefore supports the Federal Council in its endeavours to secure and further develop the successful model of the bilateral approach. For the Swiss medtech sector, barrier-free access to the EU internal market, access to qualified labour, cross-border cooperation in research and a secure energy supply are particularly important. The Federal Council also has the support of the Swiss electorate, as a recent survey by gfs.bern shows. Over two thirds of voters see advantages in the bilateral agreements, meaning that the view of advantages has reached its highest level since 2015.
