The product registration obligation provided for in the Ordinances MedDO and IvDO will come into force on 1 July 2026. Swissmedic has developed the ‘Swiss Database on Medical Devices’ (swissdamed) for this purpose, which is already mandatory for the registration of economic operators. The partially revised IvDV will come into force on 1 January 2025.

In August 2024, all economic operators registered with Swissmedic with a CHRN were asked in a letter to their contact person to validate their data migrated to swissdamed within three months. So far, only about a quarter of the operators have done so, but the deadline is 13 November.
