Mangellage.ch – Prepare for the worst case

Switzerland is once again preparing for a possible shortage of electricity and gas.

The trading of allotments is permitted under an ordinance issued by the Federal Council. Mangellage.ch is the platform which enables companies to trade their contingents. The platform allows firms to sell their unneeded electricity or gas quotas – or alternatively, purchase any excess available. Interested companies can respond to offers and negotiate bilaterally. The platform provides contract templates and allows the registration of concluded trading transactions, which are then automatically reported to the relevant authorities.

Mangellage.ch also features a dashboard with up-to-date information and key figures for ongoing assessment of the situation:

  • Periodic assessment of the current status by Enerprice experts and regular relevant news reports
  • Additional information charts showing price trends, information on consumption, storage levels, important production output, and further needed information.

Companies are advised to make early preparations for a possible energy shortage. Preliminary steps could include:

  • Registering for contingent trading on Mangellage.ch
  • Set up or planning the necessary internal processes and studying the relevant ordinances (see «Links» on mangellage.ch)
  • Registering as a multi-site electricity consumer with the VSE (OSTRAL), if necessary
  • Preparing «Reportings» for multi-site electricity consumers
  • Developing a possible allotment system for gas usage
  • Planning potential savings measures and possible emergency power supplies

All Swiss Medtech member companies benefit from a reduced annual fee when they register on mangellage.ch.
