Where to begin?

Do you want to move your medtech company towards sustainability, but still have a long way to go? It’s good that you’re tackling the issue now. It doesn’t have to be complicated. We recommend the following approach:

Designate a responsible person

As a matter of competitive relevance, sustainability must permeate your entire company. An individual who is responsible for sustainability ensures that the topic won’t be forgotten in day-to-day business, and will be integrated into your company as a whole.

Talk with your customers

You must have a good understanding of customer expectations in order to strategically anchor sustainability in your company and implement it in a targeted manner.

Talk with your employees

Sustainability interests and moves people. Employees have valuable knowledge and have often already introduced initiatives within the scope of their capabilities. To ensure an efficient approach, consider which internal resources are available to you.

Create SDG mapping

The 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a good overview and helpful guidance. Find answers to questions such as: Which SDGs are relevant to my company in terms of business activities and values? Which SDGs are important to my customers and investors? Which SDGs is my company already contributing to today?

Take advantage of further training opportunities

The entire medtech industry can learn from examples of good practice. Swiss Medtech organises events and webinars on sustainability based on the principle «From the industry – For the industry».

Start the process

You now have a good basis for developing a strategy and an action plan. Swiss Medtech strongly recommends that all medtech companies prioritize Goal 13 «Climate protection measures» in their strategy. Why? Because it is highly relevant to staying in business. More on climate protection
